Teams put out ‘huge fire’ at Darlington County scrap metal recycling organization

DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW)– Fire teams from throughout the Pee Dee put out a “huge fire” on Friday at a scrap metal recycling organization in Darlington County.

Firemens reacted about 9 a.m. Friday to Darlington Shredding on Steel Mill Roadway, according to the Darlington County Fire District There were no injuries and just restricted damage to business’ operations. Teams stayed on the scene for a number of hours.

In addition to DCFD, firemens from Darlington City, Hartsville, Palmetto Rural, Sardis-Timmonsville, Howe Springs and Cheraw helped in getting the fire under control and snuffed out. DCFD likewise thanked Darlington County E911, emergency situation management, EMS, and the detention and constable’s workplace for their aid.

The American Red Cross likewise reacted to offer food and beverages to firemens, the DCFD stated.
